A head hangs low in agony and loss;
A gentle hand cups a chin and lifts it to the cross.
Though with grief and woe, a heart does feel;
A greater woe observed with His blood did spill.
Sorrow and loss, a head drops once more;
No answers come, no hope to restore.
A burden too great now does reside;
A glance reveals Your hands spread far and wide.
A gentle whisper falls on emotions dulled and confused;
Words come softly to a heart battered and bruised.
“I was there in the loss, the sadness, and the fear;
I am there with them now, wiping away every tear.
Their lives were Mine from beginning to end;
Their pain is My pain and it’s Mine to mend.”
Rest now and know His children are safe in His arms;
His grace and His mercy are far greater charms.
His grace and His mercy are far greater charms.
This world is cruel, with no thought for what’s fair;
In evil and malice, it attacks without care.
He knows and has faced its most fatal strike;
In pain, suffered hammer blows aimed at each spike.
Hoisted high, He remained in agonizing pain;
Bearing the cross, despising its shame.
For on the other side of sin’s crushing blow;
A joy was set forth: certain defeat of this wicked foe.
It was His dying that opened the door to life;
He passed through the shadows to end all strife.
His sacrifice, a plan His Father chose;
In victory, he conquered, from death, He arose.
Hope now, you who are facing life’s cruel flame;
He knows your heartache and remembers your name.
An answer will come in time’s great travail;
Rest now in Him who has passed through the veil.
Steady your gaze on the Truth that is secure;
Put your faith in the One whose love will endure.
Put your faith in the One whose love will endure.
“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
Psalm 34:18
