The Heavens Declare…

“The heavens declare the glory of God…”
Psalm 19:1a

On a recent trip to the Upper Peninsula, my family and I were taken to a North Woods lake tucked away in the pines, the spruce, and the aspen trees. What began as a sunny view quickly turned into a glorious display of color, clouds, and sky.

As our plans would have it, we found ourselves gliding across the glassy water and taking in the moments as they came. Time stood still. The air was cool. The smells were fragrant, and the view was spectacular.

Creation was crying out…and we were listening.

Life presents us with many opportunities to hear, to smell, to see, and to experience the handiwork of God. Every day–and depending upon the season–the birds sing their tune, the flowers put off their aroma, wildlife teems about, the grasses blow in the wind, the trees stand proud with their branches and leaves, and the creation presents itself before its Creator.

It’s a glorious thing, really. To get outside, to engage in the very thing that God said over and over at the beginning of time… “It is good….it is good…it is good…”

How Does This Apply To Us Today?

Set aside some time to get outside, and listen. God is speaking through His creation…He is advancing His mission of displaying His glory…and He is giving you and me the opportunity to be changed simply by meeting with Him and observing Him speak…

“For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made…”
Romans 1:20a
