Manna from heaven…

As the year marches on, I wanted to encourage us all to continue meeting with God through reading His Word—the daily delight of peering through the window of our world into His world of beauty and truth, and finding Him faithful to invade all areas of our human existence.

As the Israelites wandered through the desert on their way to the promised land—the land of Canaan—God supplied them with food from heaven—manna. This food was not something they could store and preserve for future days, but would instead spoil before the next morning arrived. Thus, they had to trust God…they had to go to God each day for their provision…they had to wait for the fresh manna to be there the next day. Day in and day out, they were being taught to wait on God, to trust Him, and to find Him faithful.

The principle from this story is to approach God’s Word everyday trusting that He has something new to teach us that particular day. We go to His Word trusting that He will guide us again. He will provide for us again. He will be faithful through His Word again. Of course, His Word will not spoil or return void, so the time spent yesterday, the day before that, etc. is not wasted, but should not keep us from opening our Bibles each new day peering through the window of His Word into His world of beauty and truth expecting Him to teach us something new once again. Consider what Jesus said, “…I am the bread of life…he who comes to me will never go hungry…” John 6:35.

Let’s us together come to God each new day…for our daily bread. Each new day trusting Him to supply our needs…each new day meeting us through His Word, guiding us by His Spirit, and leading us to paths of righteousness.

Glory!
