Reflecting Upon Our Reflection

“As in water face reflects face, so the heart of man reflects man.”
Proverbs 27:19

I’m not sure where you are right now in reflecting upon your reflection, but if you’re like me, then you’re busy, busy and busier.  The seasons of life can envelope us all. Some have more kids than others. Some have more job responsibilities than others. Some have more home responsibilities than others. Etc. Etc.

Either way, distractions in our seasons of life can keep us from reflecting upon our lives. We do this to our peril. And it’s into any season that Jesus’ words still speak to us today…

“It was at this time that He went off to the mountain to pray, and He spent the whole night in prayer to God.”
Luke 6:12

How Does This Apply To Us?

Take some time this weekend to get away to a quiet place–grab a journal and pen–and pray to God reflecting upon what you’re reflecting to your family, your co-workers, your boss, your church-family, and finally (and most importantly) to God.

“This shows us that there is a way: Of knowing ourselves. As the water is a looking-glass in which we may see our faces by reflection, so there are mirrors by which the heart of a man is discovered to a man, that is, to himself. Let a man examine his own conscience, his thoughts, affections, and intentions. Let him behold his natural face in the glass of the divine law (Jam. 1:23), and he may discern what kind of man he is and what is his true character, which it will be of great use to every man rightly to know.”Matthew Henry
