A Christmas Contemplation…

In life, there seems to me to be…many opportunities to see.

The stars at night in their twilight shine…friends fellowshipping around a table dine.

There is laughter and there is languish that both may ensue…yet many opportunities to see still imbue.

New breaths are taken and others are lost…the seasons of life their death-toll cost.

In one there is joy, and in another there is pain…yet in both are tears affording sight’s gain.

And, it was into this scene that Christmas first came…bringing a hope and sense for mankind to see all the same.

Man’s eyes opened in order to know…that Christmas was for seeing the world to show.

That God did not leave man to wander alone…the blind leading the blind never finding their heart’s home.

Instead, Christmas enables the illuminating sight…the beauty of vision–God’s penetrating light.

Manifested in humility according to God’s plan…the self-sacrificing God who became a man.

Cry…cries…the heavens resound…God’s baby voice therein man’s sight to be found.

Nevertheless, the blind still lead the blind…a well-worn path to their cliff’s-end find.

Not so…say the angels that first Christmas day…”Hark, Hark, peace on earth” there is a new way.

The Ancient of Days has come for you and for me…our eyes to be opened and our hearts to see.

Christmas, then, its joy to bring…sight to the blind as heaven and nature sing.

Glory to our God who opens man’s eyes…to see with new sight the old ways despise.

Glory to our King who has made clear the view that seeing is believing…

Christmas is for seeing…

God became a man…dwelt among us…substituting His life for mine…offering me His life divine.

Glory. Christmas is for seeing.

“In the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock at night. And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood near them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened. And so the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly army of angels praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among people with whom He is pleased.””
