A New Journey…

Broad way. A path seemed clear.

Treading. Plodding. No tinge of fear.

Embarked, it is a new journey upon.

New fancies. New life. The past is gone.

What previously held fast has been set free.

The old laid aside, no more a weight to be.

It is a journey that will soon tell,

That the burden is removed and so the burden’s spell.

Deep breath in. Exhale out.

Eyes fixed forward. No more doubt.

A step. Another. A steady trot.

The gathering of steam and the embracing of a new lot.

But a stumble. A fall.

Head slams down with the realization of it all.

This new life pursued with such vigor.

Has become something more. Something bigger.

An unexpected burden as one was removed.

Has been placed upon the shoulders and is now set to prove:

It was the old way that was light.

Not the fanciful frothing of potential delight.

The great jettison has led to despair.

Hope lost and anxiety has filled the air.

Face down. Hands out. A breath fills his chest.

A hand. It reaches. Its touch is pure rest.

Realization. Aghast. Eyes wide open.

The broad way path has led to destruction.

A staff. A robe. He is recognized to be.

The Good Shepherd. His love. Unveiled from eternity.

Rise. Rise. Coming to upon his feet.

Standing. Turning. An embrace does meet.

Safe. Secure. In the arms of his King.

Let the hallelujahs roll. Let freedom ring.

The narrow path now. Its toils forlorn.

Ridicule. Misunderstanding. Recoiling with scorn.

He sighs. Looks back. Down the illustrious broad way.

It is calling. “Come again…come again…this is a new journey for a new day.”

Shaking. Head down. Disgust fills the brain.

“Why continue? Why press on? Why endure this pain?”

A voice. Precious. The air’s aroma is pure and sweet.

“You will overcome. The present. It is yours to defeat.”

“Fear not. The path is trodden. I will guide your feet.”

Eyes meet in solemn gaze.

Tenderness. Gentle. Emerging from the haze.

Press on. Weary soldier. Press on.

The way is hard. The past is gone.

A King’s love is extended.

Embrace it. Carry it. Always defend it.

Therefore, stay faithful in the unknown. A new journey. It will soon come.

But it will be His way. At the end. The accumulation and total of your day’s numbered sum.

Until then. Press on.

Press on.

“You will make known to me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.”
