Let us offer a prayer of praise to our God, the Lord of all nations.
We praise You, O God, for making all things for Your glory. We praise You for being a promise-making God who keeps His promises. O Father, You do not break one of Your promises. All of them will come to pass. And so, we praise You, O God, for the promise made to Abraham that includes all people. O God, we praise You that in that promise was a seed that Paul tells us is Your Son, Jesus Christ. Yes, we praise You for Your promises being fulfilled in Christ. And in Christ, through His death, resurrection, and ascension, the Holy Spirit was sent to convict the world of sin and to magnify the Son of God, Jesus Christ, in all languages and in every tongue.
Yes, O God, we praise You, our Lord, that Your promises extend far and wide. We glorify Your name, as You reached beyond one place and one people and extended Your free gift of salvation to all places and to all people. What would God do this? What God? The one True God. The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
And so, our Lord and our God, we praise You for Your infinite wisdom and matchless splendor. We declare that You are great, and Your greatness is expressed in who You are. O Lord, You express Your greatness in Your holiness; You alone are holy, O God, entirely set apart. No other gods are like You. All nations bow before You. Though they seem strong for a moment, they are like a garment useful and beautiful, but finite, limited, and fragile. Your reign is supreme, and Your authority is uncontested. Your reign is also eternal, and yet into this created world You sent Your Word. O Lord, Your Word teaches us that You are clothed in honor and majesty! You cover Yourself with light, and we declare that in You there is no darkness at all.
For You are the Father of lights with whom there is no change or shifting shadow. This means, O God, that we must acknowledge You as the only God, the one True God. And thus, all Your creation looks to You for life and light. All nations will bow to You, our God.
Therefore, O God, we honor You as the Creator God and the God of true goodness. You did not have to create, but You, out of Your love, spoke into the void and the chaos, and You brought life and order. What came was nothing less than spectacular. A world teeming with life, bounty, and delight. We praise You for the amazing earth You made. We praise You that despite our sin, You still pour out Your common grace through the daily rising of the sun and the continuing of the seasons.
We praise You, O God, that You placed mankind to steward Your earth. O God, You have placed mankind to steward Your earth. And You have entrusted to Your people the gospel of salvation, through which You save Your elect, and for that we praise You! Glory be to God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit; forever and ever we praise You.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.
God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause his face to shine upon us; Selah.
That thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations.
Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee.
O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for thou shalt judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon earth. Selah.
Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee.
Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us.
God shall bless us; and all the ends of the earth shall fear him.
