So Many People…So Many Needs

I look at the world…

and all I see…

is a bunch of people staring at me.

Some smile, some laugh, some grimace, and some just pass.

There are those whose gaze fits the moment, and yet others who seem there by accident.

Thoughts flood my mind, and I wonder if they’re ok…

are they happy with their life…

or are they just barely making it through the day?

So many people pass me by, I can’t really count them even if I were to try.

Alas, it almost seems to overwhelm…

but, when I stop and think about it, I remember they’re all part of a greater realm.

One, the books call animals within a fence

Another, the experts call a cosmic chance

But, something within drives me to reject such notions.

For, these assertions do not explain myriad human emotions.

These people know love.

These people know hate.

They’ve run the gamut on sadness, which has often kept them up late.

Excitement in the eyes of a child at Christmas they’ve seen…

And even disgust and fear in the eyes of someone mean.

They’re not merely hardwired for certain actions…

But are liberated with volition from which they may harness their focus amidst so many of life’s distractions.

Too, they can’t simply be here by coincidence–a mere congealing of atoms at time’s most opportune happenstance…

But, were instead predestined from before time began deep inside the heart of One who doesn’t give His creation a mere passing glance.

No, no, each of these people are part of a poem written by a Father who sent His Son.

Not that they should die unhappy, unloved, and unremembered, but rather part of family that never will be surrendered.

Into this world, the Father sent His only Son.

For all these people, and His ground they walk upon.

A Son who came to seek and save those who are lost…

To live their life, to die their death, to be raised from the grave no matter the cost.

For all these people came He, the innocent lamb…

to rescue each one and walk into eternity with them–hand-in-hand.

And so, He looks into my same world…

and something different He sees…

So many faces, yet so many needs.

Thus, He cries out, “Come home lost sheep…

Come home and rest.

For it was for you I suffered and I died…

it was for you I withstood sin’s test.”

He calls out with love in His voice, “To silence and remove sin’s sting entered I this domain for thee…

to provide each person a new life–an eternal life–with Me.”

And so, all these people they may appear to be the same…

But to Him they are unique…

They move His heart…His love…His life…and the reason why He came.

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life…”
John 3:16
