The GAP Program…

As is the case with any culture, there is change. Such change, at times, can happen rapidly, as in the case of world wars and natural disasters. While at other times change can occur almost unnoticed. Further still, both elements of change can happen simultaneously. In all of these instances, however, there is a unique and often significant opportunity for great influence.

In one sense, technology and the digital age has experienced exponential growth, rapid change, and therefore unprecedented and unfettered influence over our culture. Screens with internet access are ubiquitous. While at the same time, there are quiet and subtle cultural changes that are occurring very slowly yet deliberately. Thus, I am of the opinion that our present culture–undergoing simultaneous changes–has presented the Christian with a significant opportunity to influence the culture for true success. However, the Christian is not the only player on the field bent on influencing cultural change. There is a strong and growing contingency of so-called cultural warriors or so-called activists–who stand in opposition to a biblical worldview–that are gaining confidence and steam in areas never before seen. That’s not to say that the culture hasn’t always had dissenters to a biblical worldview, but it is to say that their voice and influence has never before been as prevalent and influential.

For instance, to publicly stand against homosexuality (even from a loving and biblical position) on a social media platform such as Facebook today is a cultural taboo. Why? Because the change that has slowly occurred in our culture has placed the right to self-actualization above an accountability to biblical truth.

What is the Christian to do?

That all depends on your sphere of influence. But, I’ll tell you what I’m doing,…I’m helping launch a ministry called The GAP at Denton Bible Church.

What is the GAP?

The GAP is a life-leadership discipleship program focused on equipping young adults in: True Biblical Theology, Finances, Healthy Family Life, Creation Care, Leadership Skills, Healthy Church Life, Work Ethics, Physical Health, Various Trades, and Ministry Service.

The GAP is partnering with up DBC’s men’s discipleship program—Young Guns—to also equip young adults in a big picture view of the Bible from both the Old and New Testaments, as well as Systematic Theology and Church History.

Do you know a recent high school grad who is hungry for true success, and ready to lay a foundation for the rest of his life that is based upon a biblical worldview?

Tell him to give the Denton Bible GAP program 9-months, and that we’ll give him back the rest of his life…
