A Horse. A Donkey. A Fool.

“A whip for the horse, a bridle for the donkey,
and a rod for the backs of fools!”
Proverbs 26
:3

There is one thing these three characters share in common…they need something of force and discipline to constrain them.

In other words, the horse, the donkey, and the fool do not possess something necessary for wisdom…self-control.

It’s a simple concept, yet a challenge–even for the most disciplined.

Why is self-control so hard?

It’s unnatural. It’s against nature. It’s not fun.

However, without it (self-control) an external–harsh and cold–control is required.

The question for us all today?

  • Are we able to control our _______ … or is something or someone else going to have to step in and bring control?

“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”
2 Timothy 1:7
